    I think people get it wrong about that “why frodo ought to carry the ring” thing, and it’s a shame because to me it pertains very much to the moral heart of the entire saga. The reason why hobbits are the least worst choice to carry the ring isn’t because they are powerless. It has to do with the fact that their nature gives them a talent for humility, how humility is the virtue perhaps the easiest forgotten, even by the virtuous and how a lack of it therefore often leads to the downfall of even the formerly virtuous.
